“I’m not going anywhere else”
“As a squash pro and avid athlete, I need all my limbs and joints working at the highest level. Six months ago, I was suffering from inflamed stabilizer muscles around my right patella, compounded by tendonitis in that same knee. After working at Boston Sports Medicine for a short time, I was recovered enough to start exercising again. Then, on a vacation trip, some family and I climbed Wright Peak, number 16 on the Adirondack High Peaks list. The majority of the 3.8-mile climb is moderate grade, though most of that is over treacherous rocks instead of smooth dirt. The last mile is extremely steep, and the last half mile is one brutally tough rock face. I made it to the top in an hour and 45 minutes of hard, exhausting, and almost continual hiking, and I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort in my knee. The way down was equally treacherous, but still nothing in that knee after another hour and 45.
That climb was perhaps the best testament I could have found to prove how far both of the injuries to my right knee have improved. Everyone I worked with at BSM did a phenomenal job getting me back healthy, able to get back on the squash court, and now able to push myself for three hours like I did that day, and I’m ecstatic about it. I’ve had nothing but the best to say about BSM since I started going,
Hopefully my body remains healthy, but should any injuries come up again, I’m not going anywhere else.”
“I couldn’t be happier”
I had my ACL replaced in July, and I have been working with Danielle to recover. It has been a great experience. My knee is noticably better after every visit. Even when I have had set-backs, Danielle is always positive and encouraging.
The team at Boston Sports Medicine are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are always willing to work with you in scheduling appointments. I’ve never had a problem rescheduling when I get caught at work or another last minute commitment.
If you need a physical therapist, I would recommend checking out Boston Sports Medicine. I couldn’t be happier!
“David at Boston Sports Medicine is great”
“I went to Boston Sports Medicine after seeing an ortho about what I feared to be a knee bursitis. I’ve been through a lot of PT before thanks to two torn ACLs and a partial foot ligament tear. I met with David who did a thorough assessment of the condition of my knee.
Not only did I find him to be totally honest, but I was so surprised to learn how well he knew the ins and outs of my health care coverage! He recommended PT only once or twice (so as to not waste my coverage plan options) and gave me excellent advice about to protect my knee in my upcoming rugby game.
After that, we got to work on moving the swelling out of my knee and what to do on my own. A week later, I was good to go! On top of all of this, David followed up with me via email to check in on my knee.
Bottom line: go see David! He’s fantastic, has great in-depth knowledge about athletic training, and is a genuine guy to boot.”
“Most important – it works!”
“I am a mountaineer (that would include rock and ice climbing) and a triathlete. I have a chronic back injury in the last ~8 years, and I have seen several PTs. I can really say that in my case, Dr. Velsmid’s approach is the best. He would understand the biomechanical problem, find an approach to adjust whatever is wrong, and above all – he explains the way things work. He pays attention to limitations – e.g. will try to focus on exercises that take reasonable time; would help an athlete keep on the routine and not stop doing sports. Finally and most important – it works! After being limited in my abilities for about 4 month due to major injury, he brings me back into my beloved way of living – combining the sports that keep me happy.” Dr. Goren. — Alon Goren, Ph.D. Postdoctoral Fellow
“Highly recommended!”
“My experience with Dr. Velsmid and his team at Boston Sports Medicine has been nothing short of excellent. I’ve been working with the physical therapists in the Somerville location for about six months as I recovered from shoulder surgery. From the very beginning the whole team has been friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. By the end of my first visit they had correctly diagnosed my injury (later confirmed as correct) and developed a course of treatment. After surgery, they worked with me step by step through a very successful rehab. Helping me get healthy has been their clear priority for day one, and they have the experience and expertise to make it happen. Highly recommended!” – Paul M.
“The best decision I ever made!”
“Extremely thorough, professional and knowledgeable.”
“I have had multiple injuries in the past few years. Boston Sports Medicine has consistently helped me recover quickly. The staff, in all of their locations, is incredibility sensitive and professional.”
“Boston Sports Medicine is great”
“I have been to many PT offices over the years and these guys are the best. Very clean busy office, I originally saw them while pregnant with my second and having major back issues (2 flared herniated discs), saw them again during my third pregnancy and did the water therapy, they have 2 salt water pools and the treatment is great. I return from time to time with lower back or neck issues and after a few visits I am good to go.” – Alex C.
“Individualized attention”
“I have gone here for a number of different sports injuries and rehab. Each time they do a thorough exam of the injury and outline a rehab plan. I like that it’s a smaller place and you aren’t sent with an assistant over to machines to do your rehab. For the most part you are working one on one with the PT who has devised an individualized plan for you. They are also very good about accommodating last minute visits,- this has been very helpful to me in the days before a game or race.”
“Great Service & Staff”
“The staff at BSM are great. They really take the time to find out what’s going on. I highly recommend this group for sport related injuries.”
“I visited Boston Sports Medicine after becoming injured while training for a marathon. Unlike the doctors I saw, who seemed more interested in giving me drugs and getting me out the door, the staff at BSM helped me to better understand my body, providing information that shed new light on my injury. I was given practical tools (such as stretches and strength training exercises) to prevent a reoccurrence of injury and I sat down on several occasions with my health care provider to receive feedback on the pros/cons of my training schedule. They were extremely thorough and attentive, and even went so far as to conduct weekly follow-up communication with me after treatment to insure that the strength training and stretching exercises we’d discussed were serving their purpose. I would strongly recommend BSM to anyone seeking quality physical therapy care and would certainly return to them if I required medical services in the future.”
“I never felt rushed or brushed off”
“I began going to Boston Sports Medicine for various injuries I got while training for a marathon. Even as someone who tries to take responsibility for my own health, there is still no subsitute for gifted and attentive professionals to help you make decisions, weigh options and clue you in to the way your body works. I learned so much about my own health and how to take better care of myself. I never felt rushed or brushed off–always listened to and taken seriously by practioners who really seem to love what they do.”
“PTs really give one on one care and pay attention to you and your injury. They are very experienced as well, and have the latest equipment. I have a lot of confidence in them!”
